  the biblical israelites may have been high on a hallucinogenic plant when moses brought the ten commandments down from mount sinai, according to a new study by an israeli psychology professor.. writing in the british journal time and mind, benny shanon of jerusalem's hebrew university said two plants in the sinai desert contain the same psychoactive molecules as those found in plants from which the powerful amazonian hallucinogenic brew ayahuasca is prepared.. the thunder, lightning and blaring of a trumpet which the book of exodus says emanated from mount sinai could just have been the imaginings of a people in an "altered state of awareness," shanon hypothesized.. "in advanced forms of ayahuasca inebriation, the seeing of light is accompanied by profound religious and spiritual feelings," shanon wrote.. "on such occasions, one often feels that in seeing the light, one is encountering the ground of all being ... many identify this power as god.".

  Street Corner Witness

  has it come to an end ??

  for many years in my small quiet community the main street was filled with faithful (dubs) putting in their time on the street but no longer... they would stand for hour after hour with the mags rarely making eye contact and more interested in talking to their companion...but the time still added up.. i remember as a young newlywed getting up at 5:30 on a saturday morning so we could start street corner work at 7:00 in a seedy part of a big city we then lived in.. we then rushed for the group effort at 9:15 and didn't complete our morning until 12:00 i am sure god was pleased with our efforts... how is the street corner work doing in your part of the world now ??

  3.65 here and rising. and that is for the 87 gas!

  I think it is because of the elections.

  Sad, just last week it was 2.87.. I don't see how it can go up so much so fast.

  a thought came to my mind which is (obviously) why i am posting this.

  most of us were taught to understand that lord refers to god and lord refers to jesus.. in amos chapter 3, for example both are identified.

  3:11 talks about "therefore thus says the lord god...".

  I don't know of the guy, but I will pray for Jim Penton. He sounds like a wonderful man.

  On the subjects of prayers. I do have a question. I remember reading somewhere that JW's are taught that they are not to pray for the healing of someone and that if someone does pray for someone and it comes to pass (for the good) it is the work that is not of God and is of the devil.

  Would someone be able to verify that?

  Bought all 52 Hardy Boys books for my son whom I offered $2 per to read them and a $100 bonus if the read them all. (He didn't like reading at the time, thus the bribe) Well he did it and we had a Hardy Boys party at the end with presents and clues leading him to the final present of a safe with 100 dollar bills.
  
  Now he's a voracious, it was the best $200 I ever spent.

  Hey, I loved reading as a kid, still do today. If my parents would have offered me that 'reward' or bribe I would have pretended not to like to read. BTW who's the hardy boys and nancy drew?

  Most of us were taught to understand that LORD refers to GOD and Lord refers to Jesus.

  In AMOS chapter 3, for example both are identified. 3:11 talks about "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD..."

  and if you go a litte furter to vs 12 it jus says LORD.

  If the LORD= GOD and Lord = Jesus why does the verse say Lord GOD?

  is Jesus and God both here in this scene?
